Your b.itch should be in a quiet area set up for whelping where she is does not feel the need to be aggressive. I put my b.itches in the whelping room at least a week before the due date. I make SURE they are not disturbed. Distress can cause some b.itches to physically delay whelping which can be harmful to her or the whelps. The whelping room should be a comfortable temperature, quiet, in an area that does not have through traffic. Ideally it will have a door to the outside. I do things on a little different level than some people, but I play calming music, keep the light rather dim, and I am with my dam almost all the time for the week prior to whelping to monitor her actions.
Bitches who are disturbed may not take proper care of their whelps, may not let milk down properly, and may even kill their whelps if they are upset enough.
Get your girl into a controlled environment where she can relax and be calm in preparation for her puppies coming.
This is exactly what my parents did as well. Not that I really remember the dogs a lot but the horses are the same thing. If they are too stressed they can delay even early labor.
