I've locked down! Woo hoo!

I had 15 (out of 26) of these eggs shipped and as far as I can tell for sure I at least have 11 perfect moving veined eggs. (bad percentage, I know, no more shipping eggs) I've thrown out 6 that were perfectly clear or had a blood ring. I kept anything with a growing air sack and some kind of mass. Some of these eggs are dark and hard to see. But I'm pretty sure there are a few in there that the mass seemed just too small to be alive in my inexperienced opinion. But I kept anything that didn't have a crack or smell or Clear or blood ring. Does that sound right?

Also my humidity is about 68 right now. I filled both reservoirs and put a chamois in there half in half out to increase water surface. I'm using the Brinsea octagon eco 20. Does that sound right?

I've laid them sideways and lined the tray with that rubbery shelf liner for softness and grip.

Let me know if I've done anything wrong! I want to go to bed but can't stop staring at them. Hahaha!

Sounds like you have got it. Get a good night's sleep.

Ok, so this morning, the humidity was down to 63. I added a chamois to the other chamber, half in half out and added water (quite a bit!) . Both chambers are full Still at 63. Temp is at 100 on the top thermometer and 99 on other thermometer as it has been throughout incubation.

I don't want to open it anymore, but this has to be fixed!

What's up? Any ideas?

Ok, no response, so I've added a larger piece of the chamois that covers most of the floor of the Bator hopefully that will help. Going hands off

I usually put a double layer of paper towel under the basket in my brinsea, just lay it over the channels pushing it slightly into the channels add very warm water. This will increase the surface area. If it is not humid enough I will add a warm moist sponge underneath the vent so I can add warm water with a syringe and needle as necessary. Prior to your next set recalibrate your thermometer and hygrometer to make sure they are accurate too. Best of luck.

Thanks, great idea! The additional chamois worked. I'm up to 68. How do you attach the sponge?

I see we both have a Brinsea 20. If I need to up the humidity at lockdown, I got several of the small, maybe one inch square plastic food storage holders (Look like mini tupperwear) from the dollar store. I cut a sponge so a piece will fit inside each holder and dampen it. Depending on circumstances and what the humidity has been I put one to four inside (usually three) at lockdown. I position them so if I have to add a bit of water I can through a plastic tube in the vent hole.
Brinsea also sells some kind of paper that can be used but I've never used it.
BTW, what you're seeing on shipped eggs doesn't look bad. While I do very well with my own eggs, shipped eggs are another story. I think my percentages have been:
11%
58%
0%
At this point I don't think it is worth it trying to hatch shipped eggs.
