I see we both have a Brinsea 20. If I need to up the humidity at lockdown, I got several of the small, maybe one inch square plastic food storage holders (Look like mini tupperwear) from the dollar store. I cut a sponge so a piece will fit inside each holder and dampen it. Depending on circumstances and what the humidity has been I put one to four inside (usually three) at lockdown. I position them so if I have to add a bit of water I can through a plastic tube in the vent hole.
Brinsea also sells some kind of paper that can be used but I've never used it.
BTW, what you're seeing on shipped eggs doesn't look bad. While I do very well with my own eggs, shipped eggs are another story. I think my percentages have been:
11%
58%
0%
At this point I don't think it is worth it trying to hatch shipped eggs.
I'm not sure I was very clear in my first post. I only have 2 of the 15 shipped eggs that I have much hope for. The other11were local and it looks like I've lost about 2 of those. In total I started with 26. I've thrown out 6, and am finishing with 20, 11 of which I actually saw movement and veining. So I'm holding out hope for them. Think I will go the Tupperware and sponge method. Thanks so much!
