First Lockdown starts 5/5/10 at 7pm.. I cant wait!! Who's with me??

Hi everyone...exciting to hear chicks are on their way. We have 6/11 hatched and terrorizing the incubator. So cute! I`ll post photos when they dry out a bit. We have a circ. air Hovobator that we just purchased before this hatch. Seems like everything has gone okay sofar as the incubator is concerned. The Hovobator turner is kinda a piece of junk as far as I was concerned. Second hatch with it and it stopped on day 8. I really like the circ. air though opposed to the still air.
Good luck everyone and I look forward to photos.

It's lockdown for me tomorrow! Just 4 eggs and just for fun!

Question; I started the eggs at 2:30 in the afternoon. Does that mean I have to wait till 2:30 tomorrow to lockdown or can I do it in the morning? I'll be busy with mother day stuff so I'd like to get this out of the way before the celebrating starts.

Dont quote me but I think its okay for you to lockdown in the morning. Shouldnt be a problem. As long as its the right day.

I am on day 19 now. Since I am actually on before midnight lol. I thought i heard a pip yesterday coming from under a hen but POO I suppose it was my imagination. Impatiently awaiting my 3 nests full to hatch. first two are on day 20 and the last is on day 5. Have near 40 eggs under right now. Wish me luck I may need it!

Sounds like things are going really well! Congrats to all of you with chicks, and pips, and zips! So far, I still have just the one. I am thinking that might be all she wrote. But will still give them some time. We started this in a homemade incubator, but moved them to the Dickey cab. incubator after having way too much trouble. So that's where we're at. Here is our adorable little mutt, we are all excited that he/she is doing well and seems very happy. We had our order of chicks come in the same day this one hatched and one of them did not take the trip too well, so that is its little buddy now. Both are doing well.

LOL, the fish tank was a horrible incubator, but makes for an excellent brooder!

Can't wait to see pics of everyones new little chicks! How fun!

Just locked down!!! I candled once more and removed the two I knew weren't developing. I cracked them open and saw they never were fertile. Looked like uncooked scrambled egg. The remaining 4 have large dark masses and a nice large air cell. I removed the egg turner and placed the eggs in an egg carton that was trimmed up. I've raised the humidity to 65%, taped the lid on as a reminder to not open it, the temp has gone back up and now THE WAITING!!!

100% hatch rate!!! I am so excited. The last little one hatched out this morning bright and early. Good luck to everyone with the remaining hatches.
