I'm so sorry to hear about your sweet little chick. I just hatched 4 araucana chicks last week who all got pasty butt. Lost one on wed and felt so bad....have one more that looks pretty shaky. Also lost my beautiful black Marans this past July. It makes you feel so bad, I kept thinking what else could I have done? But I am learning that it's all part of chicken keeping and maybe I'll get more adjusted to it? Hang in there....
