First night in the barn and the power has gone out !!!

at 6 weeks, they're pretty much fully feathered and able to stay warm as long as there's no breeze ruffling their feathers, I'd bet they'll be fine if you just leave them alone and kill the lamp altogether

Ok good i think its only going ddown to 31 tonight . We have snow every where here in N.S. today is the first rain sence december i hope it wash most of the snow away . Theres a rain fall warning for here . There was the most snow this year then i can ever rember .

I hope there going to be fine , could they get shocked from always being around 70 then dropping to 30 ?

I wouldn't think they'd get a shock from changing temps. Probably be a good idea to start weaning them off the heat lamp though. I've read lot's of people here who say they start cutting the heat back sooner rather than later and it helps them feather out faster. I can't swear to it, but it does kind of make sense to me.

good luck, and let us know how things turn out!

It 1200 am now and the power companys web site says it will back on at 130 . My flash light is dead and my phone is dying fast so they stayn out . All i have is candles and i dont like the idea of going around the hay and other flamables in the barn with an open flame . If they are fine in the morning i might think about leaving the light off altogether . Its been soo cold her up untill this wweek or id probly have them out along time ago . Just 3 days i went out to feed my other chickens around 7 am and it was -15 c

I went to peek in on them and the power came on . Took them about a minute to start eating and fighting . I know for sure 1 rir is a roo its comb is twice as big as the rest but slw im finding it hard to figur out if there pulets or roos . Just watching them fighting each other made me wonder .
