First Night Outside (gulp)

Ducks who can fly can often fly away and never return no matter how much they appear to be bonded to the other duck(s) you also own.

wing clipping is painless and ensures the ducks who are in your care dont fly away, or over a fence and become harmed by dogs, predators or other things. We can only control what is in our yards/pastures to keep them safe. Once they fly anything from poisonous plants, molding vegetation or dogs/predators can effect them.

It's fine to leave them full flight if you don't have neighbors with dogs in their back yards, not too good if a duck flies into the neighbors back yard though.

And that's why i said it's a choice one has to make for themselves?

I chose mine based on my situation and have always respected others decisions to do differently, which i expect in return.

I'm sorry GQ if I made you feel I was attacking you, honestly I wasn't, I only meant that folks don't always know that once a duck flies it may not always land back in it's own back yard and can very easily end up their neighbors dogs dinner. I very much respect your choice in leaving your ducks full flight, not everyone can do that. safely anyway.

Yep, I thought I was soundly determined NOT to clip . . . but the better she gets at flying, the more I'm wavering.
I'll keep you posted - I can definitely see both sides to the issue! It's a tough choice...

Yes it is but if you stay on here any length of time you'll se a post where someone waited to late and their Muscovy flew off just for the joy of flying and didn't come back. Heart breaking.
