First one, wrong end!!!!

Hi, sorry this time difference... How is the chick doing? Any progress yet?

It is ok, I see you are across the pond.

No progress, still hanging out and breathing. It is more "chirp"er today!

Wondering how long I should wait to help it more. Or should I at all? I don't remember reading about that on Sally's post. I just read to wait, and wait more. It has been 11 hours since the assist and 32-34 hours since it first pipped. WHAT A FIGHTER!

I am going to get some bacterin today so I don't have to keep damping the membrane every 30 mins. Last night I got up every 2 hours to make sure it had not dried out. Haha, I felt like I had a newborn again. And I have a 6 mo old baby boy at home, so it wasn't that long ago.

We have a lot of pips this morning, but I was pleased to see my humidity didn't drop much last time when I snuck him out. What do you suggest?

I'm glad to hear he's doing so well! I think you should start helping him out now. It's been quite awhile since he pipped. Start by removing the white membrane that's visible (in the pic) and check what it looks like inside the egg, the inner membrane etc. Then open the shell more, zip round the egg, like the chick would if it hatched by itself. If there is any blood wet the spot with a little cold water and replace him in the incubator for an hour before continuing.

I got to run and get my son from school quick, but I'll be back now-now.

Sounds good! I will get everything ready and start as soon as I put my baby down for a nap. Thank you so much!

I did it!! Or should I say WE did it!! Thank goodness for that article. Didn't seem hard at all. I zipped him.

I could see the outer and inner membrane. I slide of the outter a little and put him back in.
It looked like this.

He did the rest within 15 mins. He is out running around with the others. Thank you for your support! I really think the timing was perfect. He was ready and there was NO way he would have been able to do it in that position.

Well done!! You did it! That membrane is perfect, the timing was perfect. But where the pic of the chick out of the egg? I want to see him.

Here he is making his exit!

Here he is resting after the hatch with its sibling, another white Marans.
