I decided on a whim to try hatching peacocks. I got 8 eggs and 4 hatches. Here is the foursome. The yellow/white one is growing slower than the others but hatched at the same time -- just about one month ago.
Here it is up closer. It has spots of either black or dark brown along some shafts.
This is one of the brown ones. I only got one to cooperate with me. The others were flying and banging their heads on the brooder roof, so I gave up. I can worry about sex later as long as I know type.
The breeder said this to help me identify:
"If all 3 browns are the same color then yes probably Blue India, but purple chicks, look very similar, just a little lighter tone.
If the yellow chick is getting darker as it grows and the wing feathers are getting some black in the quill then my guess would be Black Shouldered, but also possibly BS Pied or BS Silver Pied."
I like these guys, but I'll likely put them all up for sale.
Thanks,
Becca
