First Pip in progress!!!! WooHoo!

Yeah its shelf liner. I have the light bulb on the right side of my bator so I separated it from the chicks with a piece of hard ware cloth, then put shelf liner on the bottom, and up the side of the hardware cloth. It also provided some dimming on their side from the bright bulb.

This little guy has incredible vision for being a few minutes old. He can see me 20 feet across the room.If he sees me move, he goes crazy! He is also picking at the pip hole of the other chick everytime it peeps. Its so sweet!

This is my first hatch ever and our incubator is homemade. We only set 4 eggs to begin with and at day 7, two were clear and I took them out.The first chick is doing good and the second one is on its way out too. Im so relieved! I had to keep a close on my bator the whole time because of the fluctuations. I will be purchasing something more reliable in the near future.

Both babies have arrived and are resting together, comfortably. They keep trying to clean each other. Its so sweet!

what kind are they?

... i have 8 eggs in the incubator and they are mostly egg white inside (well at least thats what i think) when i look at them from one side they look like they take up most of the egg... but then when i flip it i can only see 1/2 of the chick... im on day 17... is that normal?
