With my Lyon Turn-X (circa 1976) I take chicks out like this:
'Bator is in my bedroom, next to the bathroom, for hatching. I get best humidity here. When I need to take chicks out I close the doors to the bathroom and run the shower on HOT for 5 minutes and wait for my hygrometer to show 85-90% humidity. FOGGY. I put a box on the counter, to put dry chicks in, and then carry the 'bator those few steps into the bathroom unplugged for a minute. I close the door and then take the lid off the 'bator. With the ambient humidity so high they don't lose any. I take this opportunity to add water to sponges, ect. I'm lucky cause it's a small incubator and I can do that though.
