First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

I am going to order new CX's this week, Somewhere between 65-100..

You cannot believe the number of relatives and people who have eaten the Extra Large Version of the CX's and now want to go in on them. Which I have told them all includes processing. I want 20 for myself, 15 to eat over winter and 5 to raise frogs and toads from next summer.

I get mine from Hoover Hatchery in Rudd, Iowa.

I firmly believe my wife's mother should not stop by....

Actually she likes all the things we have done to the farm and all the birds we raise. I have the third largest farm of all her son-in-laws.

How long till u expect Ethel to come back Ralph??

Tomorrow I have to stake with my 17. and take care of a HUGE tom cat I saw lurking in our quonset where the chicks and ducklings go during the day. I thought this thing was a dog it was so big but alas it is just a cat with NO tail and frost bit ears.

And more good news. My mother thinks I should keep 2 red raindow roos and some hens and we still have Snow ball to add. I told her about your toads Ralph and she thinks I should try and breed some meat birds to but TBH I would use my Wellie roo for breeding just so the grow a little slower and forage more lime the wellies.

And one last thing. My beloved show cow and our milk cow went to my grandpas to run with his bull fpr a few months. It will be about 2 weeks and 6 days till our milk cow goes into heat again ( you know u need to get a life when u remember when your cow goes into heat

) and the show cow any day so we should have babies in April!!!

I wish you well on it, I pan to try to bring 3-4 CX hens over winter again. BUT who knows how that will go.

Ralph I thought it might be a bobcat because it was grayish with some faint striping on it. All I know is that it is not going to be happy when I see it. I am setting a big live trap to see if I can catch it.

I want this lil' cow so bad!!!! My mom does to but we have a big family and she wouldnt produce enough to be worth keeping.
