First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

Alright, I know all y'all down south wanted cooler weather.... but when I got up this morning it was 46 degrees! BRRRR. I am not ready for winter. Fall, okay. Winter, especially with the one we are predicted to have, nope.

Ralph and JR, I am with you on the meds. It is a total balancing act and seeing how your body reacts to certain meds, etc. I refuse to take meds for my MS right now because I don't believe the side effects are worth the benefit. I'm sorry, but cancer doesn't seem better than having my leg go numb.
Anyhow, I hope you both are feeling better soon!

On the topic of different breeds running differently... they certainly do! I used to love watching all the girls come running when I had a treat. Every single breed (before fox I had 7 different breeds) runs differently. Cracks me up. Even now we only have 3 different breeds and where I really see the difference is in our Barnevelder. She is much more road runner esque. Long, lean and fast! She doesn't look like the breed standard yet, still quite lithe
She also thinks she is a turkey. She hangs with them most of the day. If you remember this spring, before turkeys and meatballs, we had gotten 3 chicks. She was the only one that survived the light bulb incident. So she really doesn't fit in with the hens, she loved the meatballs, and now she is thinking she fits in with the turkeys best. It is funny to watch her, because she follows them around at a distance copying what they do. And she is the only chicken that tries to roost on the deck railing... much like some delinquent turkeys I know.

My 1st set of CX are 8 weeks old today, heaviest one tipped the scale at 6-4. I'm feeding them grower starter, and a scoop of scratch when I pull their feeder in the evening. Love the way they charge at me as soon as I walk out in the morning. Was hoping to have one ready for family coming in this weekend, don't believe that's going to happen.....

Welcome to the thread.

How large are you headed for with yours?

Are you doing the thing we do here, severely limiting food and giving them lots of exercise?

Mine are 6 weeks today, I have no idea what they weigh or how to weigh them. They do not like to stand still on a scale.

Weigh a restrant system on the scale then zero it out then put the chicken in the restraint system and you should get the weight of just the chicken
