These pics were taken on Christmas day, and he's filled out a bit since then. He was hatched on Memorial day, 2015, so he is 1 year old Monday. Will post some new pics tomorrow.

Just set up an irrigation system on the back half acre, planning on making that a chicken forage area. Planted sunflowers, red clover, alfalfa, buckwheat, and flax. Once this is growing (and I finish fencing that area), will start them foraging, and hopefully cut down the feed bill!

We live on 4 acres of real good pasture land, with plenty of chick weed & clover so when they go out to free range it cuts the feed bill right down.

Oh, I am so sorry! that is the way they all die in my experience. So hard to watch.

I had to go back and see what you were talking about... I got it now..

That is not your fault, you raised them the way the "experts" at the hatcheries and Tyson or Gold n Plump say too. We are telling you they are wrong and there is a better way.

All of it involves common sense things, restrict intake, either by restricting food/protein/calories or feeding fermented food so they puke it all back up, and give them exercise.

I am willing to bet if you saw our birds you would be shocked as they would hardly resemble the birds you raised. Proving environment is as important and genetics.

It's flooding here AGAIN. I will try and get some pictures of my Cx,providing the monsoons STOP.

Dry as a bone here. Monsoon doesn't usually start til the end of June, beginning of July. Then its miserable til mid September, but it makes for a healthy crop of fall weeds.
