First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

Do you guys get Traffic Cones out there on the highway ??

The traffic cones we get over here in the UK are very large and can be cut down to whatever size you need.
yes we do.. but to get it so the head stuck out about 1/4 of the back end of the bird stuck out and I was thinking he might get out...I know lots of people use them, so I think it might be me and not the equipment

Sent 35 birds to camp. I went ahead and just skinned them. The rain started up AGAIN.
My brothers help consisted of removing them from the kill cone, and then washing them. Lol and drinking a mix drink and shaking his head.
Just the little he was able to do helped me tremendously.
I saved 5 of the Cx for an attempt at the next experiment. Two males and three females. All 5 are well feathered and have no difficulty walking. Got them in their own pen where they are safe from the other chickens and i can manage their feed

the cat litter jug worked ..thanks to your comment  I used some big washers on  2 screws and it held up for the bird...it looks secure still for more uses... it is heavier plastic than the gallon of water they sell by me.

If I try that again, I will definitely use something heavier duty. I didn't even think to use washers though, thanks!

I do not envy you with 35
Every hand helps no matter how small it may seem to some.

Wow! That is quite an accomplishment!! I bet you are pretty tired. The most I've done in a day has been 4...I think 2 is a reasonable number for me.

I've tried nailing a plastic (think it was a gal and a half juice jug) jug to a tree to process but it came down after putting the bird in. What works for me is the broomstick method. Then I slit their neck and hang them from the feet with baling wire to a tree to bleed out.

I want my hubs to make me a cone out of some leftover metal we have from making a different exhaust vent for the dryer. I can't see spending $20-30 on a fancy cone. LOL.

Not looking while wielding an axe towards a chickens neck can cause you to get the nickname "stumpy"......
