First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

I grabbed a toad today and took him with me working in the woods. He had an accident.

The Axe fell across his neck,

He dressed out at 15 pounds and 4 ounces! I was hoping for more but that ain't all bad. The fat in him was amazing. He is going to be my New Years day dinner. I will let him rest then throw him in the freezer.

I also had a Tom that had a wood chopping accident, He weighed 11 pounds 2 ounces. Also nice and fat.

I sure do love my toads, When a chicken and turkey are the same age and the chicken out weighs the turkey by 4 pounds things are going well!

has anybody tried this hatchery? http://www.countryhatchery.net/chickens.html
they have something like a welps slow cx
Old-Fashioned Cornish X Rocks
These are a slower growing broiler than the Jumbo Cornish Rocks. Compare these to the original breeding of Cornish Rocks 25-30 years ago. For this chicken, we mate Cornish and/or Red Broiler males onto White Rock females. The result is a hybrid chicken that tolerates heat well and is very easy to grow. You will have a very nice frying chicken in 8-10 weeks, depending on the size you want when butchering. Order early as our supply is limited.

I have a cx I keep from last year and she is still going strong she is now 19 months old. And her name is fatty and comes when you call her. She is so friendly I don't know how long she will live but I enjoy her she just went through a big moult not long ago.

I just wanted to update my Cx passed away on Christmas Eve. I thought she was dying in the afternoon and she. Rest In Peace fatty she was Funny and very friendly.

I had a cx a bycer had given me, unknown age and she died the day after Christmas. , warm and rigor hadn't set completely when I open the coop in the morning.she was completely purple so I assume heart failure.
someone gave her to him and they had gotten her from someone else. she was a sweetie though
