Yeah!! I only have ,um, 23 chickens.

I thought the DW would get perturbed about the loaded incubators,she took it in stride though. After 25yrs of marriage she has figured out there is no stopping me once an idea takes ahold.

And of all the things I could waste money on,none bring as much happiness as my birds.

I have 6 colors of leg bands so far. Each generation has a color and then each cross has a color so some have 2. It's a good thing I keep records or I would be confused. Some have zip ties some have poultry bands and some have both. My meat project is triple banded. 1 for each breed and 1 for the generation.

My husband thinks I'm crazy (he might be correct I did marry him). I explain to him that I could have an expensive hobby that never made any profit, but instead I have chickens. They pay for their feed and bedding plus put cash in my pocket. I see it as a win/win for him. I stay busy therefore out of his way AND I earn a bit of play money to take him on dates once a month. Plus the eggs and meat taste so amazing.

I find it simple. I do not like going places. I prefer to stay home. I like my birds far more than most people I know. They never lie to me, judge me or cause me grief.

I have to go Back to work Thursday. At least this job is close enough to drive back and forth every day. Living in a motel gets old quick
