Thanks Fat Daddy. I've read that thread once before, but I will re read it again These eggs came from a breeder in Fort Worth. I went with her due to it being CLOSE. Im not really hung up on "Big Butlers" From what I've read, size is influenced to a degree by climate and alot of selective breeding. I used to love hearing their call when I was a kid. I can still remember how exciting it was to see a mom and babies darting out of the bushes
I've said it before,I'm a bird NUT!! I love birds. It's the highpoint of my day to come in from work and spend an hour or two with them. My DW and kids make fun of me when I'm washing the eggs. I get caught up examining them for tiny details, polishing out stains and holding them up to the light to admire their shine.
I think the freaking weatherman is still ordering rain. I'd like to hit him on his big toe with my 20lb hammer.
Its FLOODING. just went out to check on my brooder. All dry and warm.
Actually some of the best butlers I got back then came outta Texas... but I truly don't remember the breeders name.... I raised 100's over the years and sent out more eggs than you'd ever believe. Lots of fight'n on the boards back then. Took the fun out of it for a lot of folks....
Yea,I don't really care whether people believe or like me.lol A lot of people seem to fail to realize how much variation is possible within a group/breed of birds. It always strikes me as ludicrous that anthropologist have the audacity to claim they know what different hominids looked like from a handful of specimens. All you have to do is look around in a shopping mall to see that diversity is the name of the game.
This thread has had it's moments. I love my chicken friends. Everyones experience is unique to their environment and conditions. We all try to help one another but sometimes we miss the mark. I'm a firm believer in listening to the Old Folks. They may not know WHY something works or doesn't work but they have the Experience to pull things off.
it would be really nice if this thread could be about keeping cornish cross and all things related. why not start a chat thread guys if you just want to "shoot the breeze"?
