Ur guys CCL r beautiful!! We r going to try and get either some CCL or some Beifelder hens and roos from Green Fire farms!! Started collecting eggs that will be set next Wednesday. Hoping I can get LOTS more but they r only giving 1-2 eggs a day from 8 hens but they r pretty stressed from being moving around so much...

I had so many things I wanted to comment on... and forgot. Again. I think I say that a lot.

Did the buyer come for the Jakes?

Love the CCL pics! Diamonds everywhere!

It looks like Jessica's daughter is a chicken whisperer! My daughter is too... It is sweet. My daughter was so attached to the roo from our first round of meaties. Butcher day was incredibly hard for her. If he hadn't been mean to everyone but her, we would have kept him.

Linda- you hanging in there?

I haven't seen a good photo of your cream legbars - they are really striking, Ralphie! I'm glad you found a "home" for your excess turkeys and males. Maybe it will be good regular source for you to send your excess males in the future. So do you have TWO incubators going now? Very cool.

DK your eggs are so pretty! We get green eggs but not blue here.

Linda, I hope you are still mending well.

Jessica, our roos are very good with kids, too. It takes a lot of training, of the roos and the kids, but it's so nice not to have some crazy rooster spurring everything in sight!!

Everyone looks busy with spring-y things! I don't always have a lot of time to comment, but I look forward to all of your posts! I should have crazy chicken lady pictures to share soon, though. That new outdoor brooder with the heat panel is next. We've been working with cup waterers, 5-gallon buckets and O-rings a lot this week.

Yea I am hoping it will place get rid of them. She was really happy to take the birds, nearly as happy as I was to get rid of the one. It is so nice to be able to walk near the coop and not have to be worried about being attacked from behind. I did not even feel bad putting that turkey in the sack and into her trunk.

It sounds like she lives with or near a large extended family, she could not believe our kids did not live near us. She said she prefers to process her own fresh meat.

I am running two incubators now. I have one set up as hatcher and the other as an incubator with a turner in it. I have the other turner on the counter ( much to my DW's chagrin) to turn the eggs I am keeping to hatch. By using the one as a hatcher I can do split hatches, turkey, chicken and guinea eggs all at the me time. I hop to keep the incubators going for couple months.

Some guy called me and wants an EE chick, so I have one of the good Friday hatch sold already. Which is so cool hopefully they will hatch now!!!!!!

Lol why do you sound like me Ralphie?

my favorite new thing, an egg gathering apron. I can fit probably a dozen duck eggs in the middle pocket!

Tomorrow there is talk of moving the duck hutch. Which means moving the bunny hutch. The bf won't build me a raised duck pen for my current flock of 8 ducks with 12 more on order.

I made an "arrangement" with the 4h chicken guy to trade him my unwanted roosters for $5 each towards meat chickies, turkeys or what nots :)

If only both my incubators were holding temp. #chickenmath

DK those chicks r cute!! Cool egg apron!! Don't bennd over though I learned that today. I had some eggs in my sweat shirt pocket and bent over and one got smushed

Fancy Chickens DK!!!

I like the apron. I wish I had something with better pockets when I find an egg I need to gather...

Speaking of which. I have trained my DW in putting Bert to bed and gathering eggs. She had a bad experience as a kid and has refused to gather eggs. I have to go away and perform highly specialized Grandpa duties on Sunday night and Monday. So tonight was her trial run. Bert went to his bed with just a little coaxing. She was pleasantly surprised and said " It's like Bert knows where he is suppose to go" ..

Did I tell you the woman that got the turkeys today works with my wife kind of? She is a translator for my wife. When she was here I thought of you DK, She was asking me, telling me, begging me to raise Muscovy's. She even tried to talk my wife into it. She said she would take as many as I want to raise, she said her and her friends really like them and cannot find many fresh ones.....

I thought DK needs to meet up with this woman......LOL... I told her no water fowl allowed here I had geese for 6 weeks last year that was 6 weeks too long.....
