First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

My Cx's were 11 weeks old last Tuesday. I cannot see any Roosters in the group. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it possible they sent me all hens?

I ordered a mixed run of sussex and orpingtons and got 100% hens once. I figured it was a screw-up rather than the "odds."

They do sell the hens at a CHEAPER price. Statically speaking,the odds of getting ALL females is off the charts. My paranoia won't even allow me to consider the possibility

I know, I paid for straight run which should be 50/50 or close too, I assume they would throw in a few extra hens, but all hens, no way!

Now you've got me wondering what ive got lurking in my brooder.SUPPOSED to be straight run slow broilers.I was planning on keeping all the hens anyway. So it won't effect my plans

Out of 10 that I raised to ~8 weeks this spring, I thought 3 were roosters. While butchering, I found out 5 or 6 (I don't remember exactly) were roosters. I think with the CXs, it's harder to tell... though, those were my first set. It is definitely possible they sent you all hens, as the roosters are the more expensive of that breed because they grow bigger faster...

That is why I went with mt healthy for broilers and got all roosters with 25 extra musc breed roosters. I don't have enough time left in the season to do another batch of chickens since I was supposed to get my last batch at the end of July and didn't ever get them from my local chicken guy.

All the other hatcheries seemed to have only cornish x pullets or straight run. I paid a bit extra for all males, but I think it will be worth it. IDK how mt healthy reviews have been so far this year. Does anyone of ya'lls know?

Mine were 11 weeks last Tuesday.

They were 8.5 weeks. So definitely not as old as yours. I also didn't investigate too closely prior to butchering, but the ones that I figured were roosters had larger combs... the others were the same size as hens. Body size-wise, the ones with larger combs were a little bigger, but they were all within 1/4 to 1/2 pound of each other (7.5-8lbs).

It was pretty obvious by 10 weeks which were the CX roosters. One in my last batch was even crowing by then. I think I might say something to the hatchery Ralphie. There is no way that can be coincidence.
