First Run of Cornish Cross Meat Birds and Super Excited!

I'd like to mention that all the ski resorts have already or are in the process of making their facilities "year'round destinations" with mountain bike trails, rental and competitions as well as so many other attractions. These moves can only help our capon business.
two of them have golf courses or are within less than .5 hours drive from one or more of them. The surprise to us is the fact that the food and beverage staffs and chefs are gung-ho with the capon additions to their menu because none of their counterparts from around the country can boast of such 'basic luxury'. jajajajajajaja

Ok thanks.
They will be 8wks on Tuesday. I plan on butchering on the 21st of this month so we should have some nice birds and 1 skinny on named Freddy john by my daughter. He will walk up to you and allow you to pet him. I told my daughter we don't name our food bug she insisted anyways. She knows they are food though.

That's cute...I can't name any of my meat birds they stink too much! It doesn't help matters that their coop is at the back of our property that is lowest so a lot of pooling water is around not helping the smell any. I weighed mine today...they are 4 weeks and all around 2 lbs. I need to check a weight chart to see how they compare.

I started feeding them 20% protein crumbles after my trip out of town a few weeks back. I asked the hubs to get feed for me, they were out of my regular stuff so he bought the pricier 20% type. Has anyone fed this high a protein until processing? I remember reading some folks feed high protein 2 weeks then drop down to 18 until processing.

I've got 3 roos I have to take care of tonight. They are ganging up on my hens and having their way with them. Enough is enough. I can't stand any more feathers pulled out of their backs.

I will feed them 22% till the end.

My daughter got scratched by Freddy yesterday she can't wait to change his name to dinner.

Poor Freddy..

I have never had a CX stink. But I only feed them 15% protein, I figure the rest is a waste of money. If they want more protein they can chase down bugs...

I want mine to live 13 weeks though.

Mine don't stink but their poo does.
They also get moved to freash grass every 24hrs during the week on the weekend they get moved twice a day. They only free range 1hr a day except for the weekend then it's for how er I'm our in the yard.
