There are a good 25 of these guys running loose. They DON'T get the good feed. I make them free range for a large part of their diet.

With your experience on so many different crosses

Which have you found the best for your needs?

All of them honestly. They all taste like chicken. The SP x WpSCx has a heavier frame. The SP x br has a better shape on average. The SPxDC have massive thighs but shorter leg. The one thing that I did like was that none of hybrids display any aggression towards people. That trait had to come from the saipan

Some of the birds are F2 so I'm confident with a little effort towards selection For the traits I'm looking for. I could achieve noticeable results in 4 to 5 generations

As I've seen people lament,this is a thread about CX. And I'm sorry if your put off by the conversations we have. Its an exchange of ideas and experience for the most part. I have read this thread from beginning to end a couple of times. One of the core themes IMO has been raising CX in a way that meets our needs in a more humane way. And I don't mean a tree hugging Mary Poppins way. The birds are still for consumption. From there the natural progression is to start wanting a renewable source. When you reach that point, I'd really encourage you to reread this thread. Some of the people here have made,and continue to have spectacular results. At the end of the day you can only say so much about a CX. To sum it up. Manage the feed.

SM,another attribute of CX,they grow quickly,but will still remind you of chicks. One of the hardest things I'd done In years was to process my first batch of CX. They are gentle birds. And it will be easy to lose sight of their intended purpose.
