So cool to 'feed' those hatchlings to a broody mama like that.
How long had she been setting?
Had she hatched before?
Did she take them readily 'without question'?

Mama is our darker blue amerucana. She has be sitting for @12 weeks now. She had 18 eggs but 1 exploded and non hatched, they were neighbors eggs. I have tried to break her by dunking in cold water four times and a wire cage for 5 days once. Finally said f it and got eggs from neighbor. But when eggs failed to hatch last week I told wife we need to try this of she will just waste away.
It's nerve racking giving her chicks I want to keep. And first night with just 2 under her I think she stepped on one cause one died with no blood. First time we saw her peck at one we freaked. But she's not pecking hard and it's letting them venture out more now. She has taught them to drink and eat and so far has been awesome.

I think what it was was after we put the first one under her and both were quiet. That was a good sign. We tried this with week old silkies a few weeks ago with no luck.
Oh this is her first clutch.

Well with a welsummer roster and a FBCM roster running around and hatching a few chicks under a hen. We decided to pull all our blue and olive colored eggs and............................................

Pack the incubator for a olive egger hatch. Curious as to what they'll look like if the fbcm got ahold of the blue or splash Amercana(?) Then I'm thinking we could get blue birds that lay olive eggs. I guess time will tell. So the girls these eggs came from are the 3 mentioned above, blue favacana, Easter eggers and 2 ccl looking olive eggers.
here we go again.lol

Being spring here we finally found out our sex of out Toulouse geese. Turns out our 1st pair are 2 boys. Our second 2, one buff is Male and I tuffed Toulouse is a female. So finally after 2 years we started getting some geese eggs. The first 2 went on out counter for 2 weeks until we found a third.

The tuffed was not sitting on then so 3 eggs went into the incubator. 1 didn't develop but 2 did and after 33 days we hatched out these............................

Sam was surprised they hatched. Our tuffed Toulouse is now sitting on 9 eggs so we left them alone to see what she does. We really don't need a flock of geese.
So I guess we see how developing coming along in a week.
