I'm going to try candling on Saturday last time I tried to candle I failed miserably.I have read is hard to candle darker eggs (I have brown, brown speckled, pink/brown, all standard eggs) and a broody hen on 10 silkie eggs does any one have any tips

Make sure flashlight is really bright, but with the darker eggs it might be hard to see. How many days will it be into incubation when you candle?

Saturday would be day 7. I could try to post some pictures when I candle them. I'm not sure now if anything is growing in them because yesterday morning it was 86 or so in the incubator (please don't be dead little guys)
Last time I tried to candle the eggs with one of my dad's flash lights (he's in the fire department so those lights should be bright enough) but last time I didn't see anything, but I ended up with 7 chicks out of 12 eggs

BasilG - you just need to be careful that the light isn't too hot or I believe it could cause harm to chick
