CluelessChickMom
Chirping
Hello Everyone,
So, my neighbor friend came home with some chicks a few weeks back--a spontaneous purchase, but she has owned chickens, ducks, turkeys, etc in the past so is not clueless like I am. In fact, she rescued two turkeys that were in terrible shape just before winter and they are beautiful now and laying tasty eggs. She never told me but I eventually heard chirping in her yard and outed her. I decided to go to Tractor Supply, where she purchased hers, and JUST LOOK while purchasing supplies for my rabbits. Um, three days later and I am now the proud owner of four adorable, noisy, messy baby chicks. They would only sell in groups of four so I got more than I had intended, but the more the merrier I guess. I found this forum while searching for breed info on two of them. Two are definitely Easter Eggers, but I couldn't remember what the signs on the chicken coup said about the other two. It is not that important really--they are cute, active and will lay eggs (I hope)--but my info seeking OCD has taken over and I am determined to learn more about them and chat with other chicken owners.
Also, I live in the desert Southwest so am wondering if the heat will be a challenge.
I just noticed the introduction form. Seems I answered most of the questions above, but as for other hobbies, I enjoy sewing and crocheting. I also am into learning about various forms of self-defense, sustainable living and survival techniques and supplies. I am currently the mother of two rescue rabbits and two guinea pigs. The rabbits are both white with red eyes and occupy my entire living room, but that is where their similarities end. The two remaining of my original four Guinea pigs
are sisters, Ginger and Nutmeg. Since they refuse to play nice with each other they occupy side-by-side, 2x3 C&C cages which allows them to terrorize each other through the bars without physical contact.
I am not currently employed, but spent most of my career life in retail management and office administration.
