First time chick owner here! Introduction

Hi all! I just got six baby chicks for the first time yesterday, two sapphire gems, two Plymouth Rock, and two Americana. I bought second hand, a large 3’ long gerbil cage that is working out perfectly. They all seem to be doing good so far, but I am concerned about one of my sapphire gems rear end vent. I wrote a separate post on this, any advice would be appreciated. Thank you all for the information I’ve read so far! Site is very helpful!

I am concerned about one of my sapphire gems rear end vent. I wrote a separate post on this, any advice would be appreciated.

Pasty butt? Try a Q-tip soaked in water. Use it to soften up the dried poop. You do NOT want to just pull it off.

Do you have a coop for them? They grow fast and that gerbil cage won't be adequate for long. If you don't have a coop yet be careful when looking at prefabs, the ones that say "good for X number of chickens". At best they are barely sufficient for half that number.
