Chirping
Ya'll!!! These little chicks are SO ADORABLE! I have to go to the co-op today to grab some mealworms and more bedding... I think I am going to need to stay FAR AWAY from their chick bins.

We put a perch in the brooder today. Four of them have tried it already.
Welcome to the crazy world of chicken keeping. I have to say that I have a blue Cochin and she is one of the most beautiful chickens I have ever seen. Her feathers are so fluffy and she stands out in the group for sure. She has a great personality to go with her good looks.
Arrived to the rural property this evening to feed the 10 week old pullets. They greeted me at the fence...which gave me a small heart attack because they are supposed to be confined to a 10x10 dog kennel!!! Well I prepped their FF really quickly and went out. Everyone followed me into the kennel with the feed pan except a few honors students who couldn't figure out how to go around that I had to scoop up and toss in. Head count commenced...everyone was there.![]()
We had some really high winds today and that must have blown the door to the kennel open. But we learned today that my chickens will follow me for food (so I can free-range them while supervised) and that my circulatory system is in tip-top shape...
First time chicken owner here! Our 7 chicks are due to ship 4/13 and im wondering if a 100 gallon rubbermaid horse trough will be big enough to use for a brooder, or should we build something larger? (We didn't get bantams, if that makes a difference.)
