Hello, I found this site when trying to identify one of my ducklings, most of my bantams and some of my chicks. All came from tractor supply. This is my first time raising ducklings and chicks. I have super friendly ducklings. I originally got 3 2 runner females a light brown with brown feet and bill she's cocoa. A dark brown with black feet and bill that's my sweet, spoiled mama's girl Pebbles. Then my sweet boy, not sure what he is, they said black Swedish, he started off black with a yellow belly, yellow wing tips, a hint of yellow around the eyes, he has black legs then from knee to feet yellow with black splotches on his feet, now that he is feathering he's getting a blue green tint where he was black. He's getting so beautiful and shiny, the color started changing at the top of his wings, now his tail, under his eyes and the top of his head are getting the same beautiful shiny blue green, he's developing a white neck ring, so maybe he's a blue Swedish, I'm not sure. Then we have 2 mallard or Rouen ducky and dodger. Everybody is super friendly. They chatter happily when I come home, way their tails like dogs give hugs and enjoy affection. If it were up with Pebbles she'd have me carry her with me all the time, she hops onto my hand and tries to climb my arm just to be held and loved.
I have 6 sikies 1 blue, 1 partridge, 2 white one is vaulted, and 2 black sweethearts that enjoy being held
I have a few unknown
1 is black with a flat spot instead of a comb, this one eagerly hops onto my hand and lays down to be picked up and happily sits in my hand looking at me before falling asleep that's my little raven since it looks like a tiny crow
1 unknown started off black but is turning grey with the same flat spot instead of a comb that's grimlin
2 unknown mysteries, they have puffy cheeks feathered legs and 5 toes like silkies but they don't have black skin, they're a pail yellow with white wings so far they're very cute
1 white cochin
1 yellow probably will be just a white bantam unknown breed to me
1 slightly older unknown black bantam roo his comb turned red and he struts proudly his name is roo
1 unknown black bantam flat spit instead of a comb, white chest
1 porcelain D'Uccle
1 unknown white bantam that's legs turned green her wings are so long they touch under her tail she has a grey feather hear and there no clue what she's going to look like or what she could be
I haven't had any luck identifying any of my bantams without feathered legs
I'm looking for a few more blue silkie chicks and 4 splash silkie chicks. I really wanted the bantam chicks that start off with a chipmunk pattern feather legged and non feathered legged but someone always beat me to them. We picked 6 out one time a guy stood there and watched us, they're were 50 bantams half were chipmunk pattern he rushed over got the employee while we were waiting for her to finish what she was doing, and right in front of us listening and knowing what we wanted told her to box up all the ones with stripes. That broke my heart he even cruelly said if they turned out roosters he'd ring there necks and throw them in the woods but they still sold him every one of them.
standard size I have 2 buff Orpingtons', 2 barred rocks, 3 black chicks that were supposed to be barred rocks but no clue what they are yet,
1 roo that was supposed to be buff orpinton but he's a darker gold with black here and there on his neck wings and tail, they all came from the same tub said buff orpinton and barred rock
then got 6 chicks that had no label nobody knew what breed or if they were straight run or pullet they looked yellow and gold and each one is feathering different, some have white to the wings some black they seem to be a dark gold like my young roo
I'm getting some EE pullets from a local store on 4-22 I'll be there when they open so I don't miss out, I really love this breed they have cute fluffy faces and its so neat how they lay different colored eggs. I'd love to find an EE roo chick they're so beautiful.
all of my new additions are for pets and the added bonus of eggs even though I'm ending up with some roos.
I haven't gone through a hatchery because I didn't want to order 25 at one time and like to pick colors. I am looking to add a few more to mu flock. EE roo chick 4 splash silkie chicks a couple more blue silkies, id love to get some EE bantams too. I live in north Carolina and love all my animals we have 2 mini dachshunds 1 jack Russell 1 sweet PitBull that thinks she's a dachshund 1 great Dane mix dumped close to the house she had bad hair loss like mange but was just a simple food allergy, 2 Holland lop and 2 mini rex rabbits.
id be happy to buy some chicks that I'm looking for if anyone is close by or ships. I don't have an incubator to hatch chicks and all of mine are still chicks themselves I like buying them as chicks so I can handle them and get them used to me
