First Time Egg Candler Scared!

Oh and these first two might even gang up together when you add another and peck at the newest one.... They will figure it all out amongst themselves

Ok thanks, I moved the eggs back to original positions when I took the chicks out. If I see an upside down pip what should I do? My one egg pipped around yesterday at noon. When is the time for assisted hatch?
When you say upsidedown do you mean malepositioned? If it is at the pointy end there is a chance you will need to help, but remember taht lots of pointy end malepositioned make it out on their own and that those veins in the pointed end take the longest to absorb. So, keep an eye out for blood, (it's very possible he will peck through a vein,) and keep an eye on the membrane for signs that it is drying out and give him at LEAST 18 hours (on average malepositioned pippers take longer because they are missing that window of time that they would have pipped into the air cell). If after 18 hours you see no progress then if you are comfortable you can expand the pip hole and check the positioning of the chick and get an idea if your going to have to start as assist. You have read the assisting page, right?

Yup, most likely. So make sure that before you put the next one in he is mobile and can move when they do. My very last hatcher I had to put in a container in the brooder under the light for a few hours until his legs were strong and he could run and protect himself, cause the other 30 chicks weren't having a damp unfluffed newbie in their presence. lol

No I dont mean maelpositioned. I mean if the pip is towards the floor but still at air cell. If I see that should I turn egg so pip is at top?

If you put them back into position, they should pip on top. If they pip toward the floor, you can either roll them over, or just leave it. As long as the pip is in the air, not actually touching the floor, mine did fine starting at the bottom and working its way around. But I also had one that I rolled back over because the pip was lower down the egg and touching the bottom so I was afraid it couldn't make it on its own.

As long as he is getting air (the pip isn't against the floor or covered,) they are fine. (Now, I have to admit my hatching OCD and say, I turn mine back over because it drives me batty to not be able to see the pippers...lol)

Chirp

Mic

Can you guess the reasons behind there names? Winner gets..... nothing? But seriously can you guess?
Well, Chirp is because you heard hi chirping inside the shell, Mic.....???

I think you said you would name the first Chirp because you could hear it chirping first, but I have no guess on Mic. ???

You both got chirp right, and I am going to give you a hint on Mic. (McDonalds) what food do they have there. And think about Mic trying to hatch. Mic is pronounced the same as the Mc in McDonalds.
