This is why I have not chanced to buy shipped eggs. That would be my luck. I want show girl eggs, sooooooo bad. The couple contacts I've made semi locally haven't worked out (yet), but I can't bring myself to pay that much for eggs+shipping only to have a bum hatch. My sister's man paid something like $35 (don't ask me what kind...lol) for a half dozen of something and ended up with one chick that hatched. That's a lot for one chick.Ugg sorry man. I would go local if you can. It looks like 12 of my 13 shipped eggs are not developing.
I paid $10 for a dozen Silver Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben eggs and $6 for 2 dozen mixed including 3 silkies (she ended up adding 2 Japanese Bantams, a couple pure brown leghorns and another couple pure somethings...lol) from a local gal, (she also threw in 6 extra eggs) I now have 12 Sptizhaubens, 2 black Japs, 2 brown leghorns (I think...lol) and a bunch of I don't knows (totalling 31 in the bator.) I had one silkie hatch too quick and had a ruptured yolk sack that died and a week old I found my white fluffy Chantecler (I think) trampled and dead in the bator, with no clue what happened. So tecnically I had 33 hatch. Those are the numbers I like- 36 in lockdown and 33 hatchers. Not one in a dozen.
