So I have been incubating since late Aug of last year. Until this last incubation, I put all of the eggs in at the same time, had the same lock down date and relatively specific hatch dates.. Give two or three days.

This last incubation, I wanted to try something different as my hens started slowing down egg production in early Dec. I would put the desired eggs in daily, as the hens would lay them. I wound up with a sliding hatch date from Jan 2nd to Jan 12th...

At first I liked it, as each day for a week, I would have new chirps coming from the incubator eaxh morning... But as the ones born earlier started doubling size, the newly hatched were being bombarded in the brooder..

Has anyone else tried this and what was your trick to preventing the older ones from trampling the smaller? Did you find that as they got older, the bigger picked on the smaller ones or did they accept them better than being introduced at a later date?
