I should probably say this is my second attempt fermenting feed instead of my first time, because I don’t know if this batch is a flop too. I started this Friday afternoon, stirred well, stirred it on Saturday, and just got back from vacation today (Monday) so it sat stagnant for about two days. I read that white stuff would appear on the top after fermenting… is that what this is, or is it mold? Maybe I messed up not stirring for a day and a half.

I covered the top with a coffee filter secured with a rubber band and loosely set the lid over that.

It is safe/good to use. Fermentation does not go wrong in two days not stirring it. The anaerobic microorganisms that can be harmful and can be the result of fermentation gone wrong create a very bad odor that a normal nose does not miss.

Even in case of fermentation gone wrong if you introduce oxygen to it (stirring) the anaerobic micro organisms will die in minutes.
