I got some rockin going on in my incubator. Just one for sure but might be tow or three others. might not sleep much for the next three days with being that this is my first hatch every.

Ok, another question.
Once they start pip'ing how long before they come out?

I've got one that's got a hole in it (4 hours ago) but not doing much now.

CAT-ASTROPHE!

I got up early this morning to check on the eggs ... the lid to the incubator was ajar! One egg had evidently hatched, but the chick was nowhere to be seen. I looked around the house and found our kitten crouched over the headless corpse of the chick! Gaaahh!

The body was cold but not stiff, so maybe the chick had not been dead long. The temperature in the incubator plunged to 80 degrees. I moved the incubator to a secure location (guest bathroom) as I SHOULD HAVE DONE last night. I heard cheeping and saw an egg rocking, so maybe, just maybe the other chicks can still survive. 6 more have pipped. It would be a shame to lose them now!

I see 4. Now I have to look at the video to see which one was first, for my contest.
How long can they stay in the incubator before being moved to the brooder? (being still locked down and all).
One egg has blood in it. Is that a problem?

They can stay if for a day at least, they don't need food for the first 48 hours as they are still absorbing their yolk sacs. I took mine out only because i am going to have a split hatch and would have to get some out anyway. I took the incubator into a hot, steamy bathroom and snatched the hatchlings out. Here is what I have so far
