I can hear them pecking away. I'm like a new momma, I'm so excited.

I have one that is out of the shell, 8 more that are pip and working there way out and 4 that have not done anything but today is only day 21 so we are right on time for the most part. Will post pictures to my blog after all is here. blog address below.

So,
What do you do with all of those chicks after they hatch?

I've already got too many birds, and wanted to do this as "an experiment"... Looks like I'm just 50%, 21/42 and no more pips.

I've got them advertised for $1.50 each, but not many takers.

Mutts, sold 3 today. Have a guy who wants to give me a buck each for the rest of them. Better than nothing.

And, my hatch is over! A total of 21 chicky babies...

Hatch-Cam is gone, but Brooder-cam is up and running!
(Sorry about the strong light. Gotta keep these babes warm!

Same address (http://bit.ly/elgCQc), same access code (hatch).

Okay for a first timer I must be doing good, for at 7pm Friday night I got my first pip and as of this minute I have 11 out of 13 that have hatched and I only had to help 3 since they started to shrink wrap on me. So when I went to bed at 11pm last night I had 6 got up at 2am to 9 and hubby got home just a few minutes ago and 2 more had came. Not sure of my % but I started with 18 tossed 5 unfertile one for 13 at lockdown and 11 have came out so far. Not sure on the last two will give them a day or two and see. I would say that is not bad for a incubator that have the temp from 92 to 110 and the humidity from 25% to 90%, so not going to change a darn think about my incubator and start again tomorrow after a slight cleaning. Will post pick later for I am going back to bed, my grandson about worm me out with his visit yesterday and was up a lot with the incubator Friday night.

I see that some one was asking what we do with the chicks after they are here. Well, for me I will start for now at getting more chicken that lay eggs for I only have 6 at this time. And they are not all laying at this time. The roosters will go to the auction that is here and be sold. After I have enough laying hens I will start to sell the extras at the auction at around $1.30 or so depending on what they go for, and I can also sell my eggs there too. But then again there are some that think " how many is to many".

Pacsman thanks will check out link - glad you were able to re-home your birds. I set up 2 brooders, the LF and am chicks were trampling all over the little cochins, who now have their own box. They sleep alll the time, everywhere, in the food bowl, one fell asleep with tip of beak in the water bowl
