First Time Hatching Anyone With Me??

I just bought the same incubator!

I like it so far. Once the temperature is stabilized it seems to work pretty great. I hope I have a few duckies in about a month! lol

Lockdown!!! Humidity up to 75% and temps holding steady. I have nine eggs set - 4 RIR's 2 EE's & 3 Anconas(?) possible barnyard mix). Anyone else ever put the eggs in cupcake liners to help minimize them rolling all over the place?

My son is all excited about this (he is autistic & 18 years old). He was fascinated watching my wife and I try to build a coop yesterday (poor planning on my part - the brooder is full of Buff Orpingtons from TSC). Have to say I'm pretty excited myself - the first time I seen movement in the eggs was fascinating.

I thought about the cup cake liners today while I was making muffins, but my eggs have been upright in an egg turner so I'm using syrofoam cartons. Hope it works. Good luck with your hatch! I'm in lockdown myself!

We had 100% hatch! I'm soo thrilled and soo worn out! Watching those babies hatch all day is tiring! It took less than 24 hours for all 19 of them to come out. We have 11 in the brooder and the other 8 "fresh" ones still in the incubator. Everyone is healthy and fluffy! I ran about 60-65% humidity and 100 degrees. It seemed great! Congrats to everyone who already hatched, and good luck to those of you headed into lockdown!

The black ones are tuxedo chickens, they have white throats, tummies, and wing tips!

I'm in on second hatch----- I'm on Day 10 of my 8 Silkie and 2 Polish eggs in the same incubator!

I tried to make these pictures bigger- I even selected the size from the drop menu. What did I do wrong?

I used the basic LG still air and hand turned 3x daily. I let the incubator run for 3 days while I settled the temp and once I got it steady at 100 I never had to mess with it once! I took a paper towel and folded it long ways a few times to rest the rows of eggs on, to ensure the big end was propped up and the air sac wouldn't form at the small end. I kept both plugs out because the temp would get too high with them both in. I kept the humidity between 30-50% until Day 18 when I put the paper towel under the wire and soaked them with warm water to keep the humidity about 55-65%. I also ran a humidifier near the incubator. The last chick took a long time with little progress and seemed to be drying out so I damped a paper towel with hot water and laid it over the egg. 20 min later, chick is out!

I think the key to the LG still air is to spend a couple of days getiing the temp set, and then to leave it alone. It was hard, trust me! I know, 100% is crazy! I owe it all to BYC! That's where I got ALL of my info!

Wow!! 100% hatch that is fabulous! Congratulations. What cute little babies!!

Are you clicking the "resize" button for the pictures? Are you by chance using a cell phone for the pictures? In know cell phone pictures come out really small.

Great info!! I also used a LG but with a turner. I only lost one chick, it piped on the wrong end. I have to say I am also happy with the incubator, and I was a bit scared after hearing so many bad things about it. but all went well for me also.
