First Time Hatching Anyone With Me??

Well my 2 silkies didn't make it

... and also 2 other little yellow ones They were doing poorly then perked up but didn't totally absorb yolk sac and one had something wrapped around leg I cut off. But one died last night and the other just died... so out of 29 eggs 10 hatched (one I helped along which is doing great) and 5 died within 24 hrs.... ARGH! Not a good first hatch... I need to try again for better! Maybe check humidity more regularly???

We are going to crack the rest of the eggs and see what happened or didn't for that matter.

The 5 chicks (i think are Australorps possibly) are eating and drinking... so I hope NO more die!

I have 7 pips! I have 7 pips! I have 7 pips! I came home and peeked in and there are 7 eggs with little shell bits popped out and a bunch more wiggling around! It's gonna be a long night.

I'll take some pics to post!

oh my gosh I am so sorry!! Yes you need to try again, just so you can know how it feels to have a great hatch!!

What did you have the humidity at during incubation? During lockdown?

How is Cinco doing?? Maybe heaving breathing from being so exhausted?

Did you get any of the vitamins/electrolyte packs? It might help the weak guy gain some strength.

I wasn't checking percentages just making sure I had the sponge in there moist at all times... I opened the rest of the eggs tonight 4 were chicks that never hatched

but the rest were eggs some regular color and some off color.

Gettin' a little nervous myself. First time hatching, and tomorrow evening I'm scheduled to go into lockdown. Using my own home-made incubator built from a cooler. Temps have held great since i set them, and humidity has not went above 49&. I was able to hold it at 70% + during my test phase, so I hope it will go well haven't tomorrow evening.

So I'm never gonna sleep tonight I'm sure! We set up a camera taking time lapse photos so we can see when they hatch. Also so my 4yr old nephew can see too! The humidity is hovering at 61%, I hope it's enough. I'll get a water bottle ready for misting if I need it. More eggs have pipped- I can see about 12-14. No one has started zipping yet. They are wiggling and making so much noise!
