First time hatching, can't tell if these eggs are doing okay?

I can't see veins in any except the one, I was hopeful the black ones just meant they were further along!

They were supposed to be Polish, Phoenix, Silkie, and other "funky" chickens. The kids were really excited for their funky babies. :(
I'm so sorry :(
Maybe keep the dark ones in?

Are you open to mutt hatches? It's possible the resulting chicks may not be pure

I don't think the ones I bought were pure. My goal is to raise some funky chickens for the kids, who aren't picky about anything except weirdness. :P I love any kind of eggs, really!

I may bite the bullet and spend a small fortune to buy a few Phoenix eggs, though. I am *desperate* for one of those with their pretty tails. If only to watch grow. I never should have gone looking at baby pictures! (Must. Have. Them. All)

Candleing eggs take practice, my first batch ( using a flashlight ) I never saw veins but from day 8 then day 14 I seen changes so I let momma sit on them. I ended up with 4 sweet babies. My current broody has one egg due anytime..... and I would have sworn it had a blood ring when I candled at day 17, but wait after looking and moving it around I seen the fluttering of the heart! Soooo back under momma and hoping for a hatch! Sometimes candled eggs don’t look like the diagram

That's my worry. What if I think it's a blood ring and it's actually a baby? I can see the baby in two eggs. The rest are a big black mass. I'm hoping hard, though.

I *think* I have it. I'd like to double check with you all if possible. If you could let me know if I got them right that would be very helpful. :)

1) Mystery eggs that are possibly alive. Will leave for candling again at a future date.

2) never formed, DOA. (The color change is within the egg itself, not the light)

3) Blood ring. Possible deformed air cell. Not enough turning, I believe.

4) It's a baby forming in there! He's alive and well.

5) The one I'm most curious about. Split air cell? If you look at the bottom right it goes up again. Think Florida. Also a blood ring.

6) Never formed, dead.

7) Blood ring (Follow black dots) and also a weird air cell. Too much water loss?

Good luck! I just peaked under broody- realized tonight was day 21 not tomorrow night. Went to see if egg had pipped, instead a tiny face was looking back at me! OMG I just wanted to keep looking but know momma needs to keep warm so it can finish drying ect. :wee:wee:wee
:love

Oh my gosh, congrats! :) I hate waiting until they're dry. Whenever my cat had kittens I'd just want to snuggle it ALL DAY.
