So thankful I found your website! I got a dozen eggs from a friend and decided to try and hatch a handful out. Saw an incubator for sale - Well I just had four chicks hatch out - past 21 days of being in the incubator. Very thankful I waited and waited and when I was about to give up I heard peeping inside one of the eggs. The first one hatched quickly. I had two I had to assist and was so thankful I was able to learn from others and waited the 24hrs to help. Had to take tweezers and finish the zip breaking away the shell without tearing the membrane. They were then able to get themselves out of the shell by themselves at their own pace.
First time using an incubator, got some brooders from a nearby farmer - and went and bought a heating pad. Will be setting them up in the barn this morning. Have to get a critter proof latch & lock. Got them eating and drinking water and they are already wanting out of the incubator.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on your hatched chicks :celebrate I too, love incubating and hatching, it's so rewarding and lots of fun when you see your new chicks emerge into the world.
As your hatch was delayed I would suggest double checking your temps in the incubator. Often a too low incubating temp can cause a delayed hatch. I always double check mine before I start an incubation as its better to be safe in the knowledge that it's right.

Wishing you the very best of luck getting them into the brooder and settled.
Enjoy BYC :frow
