First time hatching in a homemade bator!!

Yeah I was going too! I told my wife I was and she was kinda grossed out about doing that!!

I do it in plastic bags. My husband can't stand it either. We compliment each others gross factor. There are things he won't touch that I handle and there are things I won't touch that he handles.

I never open one in the house. In 6th grade, I had a goose egg explode all over me, when taking out the quitters after a hatch at school. We had to evacuate the whole wing of the school for the rest of the day due to the stench.

Its a way to learn, I do it any time I want to see what stage the chick made it to. I always do it in the incubator room---which is not in the house. I have broke a decent amount----I always do it as soon as I take the chicks out and have never had a rotten smelling one----keeping in mind that I candle my eggs on day 18 and remove any bad eggs.
