First time hatching in a homemade bator!!

If they got this far I wouldn't waste money on buying a bator just yet. I would retry and make
Sure LO ddoesn't try to help again.

I lost a batch once when my little feller decided to "help out". Came in to find the temp at 109

I took steps to ensure it didn't happen again! Best wishes to you. Hopefully they survived!

While you are waiting-----do you have vent holes in your incubator? If so where, about what size and how many?

Yes I do. 6 holes above and below egg level. Maybe 1/4-3/8" ish. They r on the long sides of the bator! Enough? Too many? Right size?

I've already learned a lot of do's and don't's from everyone! I thank everyone on BYC for help and info!! What would I have done without BYC?? Thanks

I'm guessing it was your little helper with sticky fingers. Better luck next time. When I built my bator, I put the thermostat control at the very back. I actually have to move the bator in order to do a temp adjustment. Makes it very difficult for little fingers to access it. Next set of eggs should be just fine.

Time to start collecting and modifying!!
