Leave it closed even after they start hatching. It'll be hard to fight the temptation, but just be patient. If you keep opening it you're going to lose humidity and that's not good.

BadgerDaddy: I have some expert advice for you. You know the drill... the Daddy boils the water. So, go do that. Now make yourself a cup of tea. Then, find a chair. Sit down in it. Hold both hands out in front of you, with palms facing up. Now, turn your right hand over so your palm is facing down. Lean WAAAY to the left. Insert your right hand under your right thigh. Now, turn your left hand over so your palm is facing down. Lean WAAAY to the right. Insert your left hand under your left thigh. This is a very good position to adopt to keep yourself out of trouble when hatching eggs. If you must stand up, and continue to pace the floor, and peek in the window... or lean over that window until you get a crick in your back, keep your hands behind your back at all times. When temptation gets the best of you.... STEP AWAY FROM THE INCUBATOR. I always get LOTS of housework done when eggs are pipping.
Coffee is just fine for moments such as this! I never sleep on hatch night! I pretend to... but wear a hole in the floor between the bedroom and the kitchen where I do my hatching.
