First time hatching, Lockdown!!!

I've asked this on other threads and not gotten any answers. When you expect to see the egg rockin' out

, are they lying on their sides or in cartons? It seems that if they are in cartons, movement would be harder to notice.

I just went into lockdown, this is my first hatch, and my dogs have no idea why I keep getting up and going into the bathroom every 5 minutes.

All my hatches have been on their sides.

I would expect to see more movement on their sides rather than in cartons though!

I know how you feel about getting no responses...I haven't had much luck getting answers to my questions too.

I would not have any idea about egg carton verses on the bator floor. I took my turners out, locked down and just now got to watch one zip and get out. the rocking was side to side as he cracked out the shell then pushed and pushed until the two halves split. he rolled all the way over a time or two. I would think in an egg carton there really isnt much room for movement. I did line the floor of mine with a non slip cupbpoard liner.

I am up to 3 hatched and all but 3 pipped. The one that pipped first has not zipped yet ... was still moving though last time I looked.

have you gotten anything yet??

I ended up with 11 babies, 10 silkies 1 showgirl. one of the silkies is lavender, they come out a really cool silvery color when they hatch. I still have 3 that did not pip but I am guessing they wont. will wait until tomorrow when my friend that owns the chicks comes to pick them up.
