First time hatching, Lockdown!!!

you know they were all different! some looked like paper, one was kind of black colored, inside of egg had black vein marks. was ugly. some were lighter in color. the one that pipped first, his was like paper, but when he finally zipped he came out just fine. he stayed there at the hole he made for almost 24 hours. sticking his beak out now and then.

Cool, thanks for that.

I was about to duck tape my thumbs to my palms so I couldn't open the incubator

First one is out, but he's just chillin' in the bottom of his shell looking around with the occasional "beep".

Yep a 2nd one is out now. They've been out for about 8 and 4 hrs. They are both still sorta wet, the RH is so high about 75%, they won't dry completely....should I move them to the brooder to finish drying??
Also, 3 more pips....the welsummers this time

a little late in replying, but no dont open it when there are pips! when my humidity shot up that high after every hatch I pulled the vent plug out mine and it went back down. they take a while to dry, well silkies did for me. I also used some fish tank tubing to roll a pipped egg back over so the pip was up. the first hatched were a bit rowdy and rolled em all over. I just stuck the tubing thru the vent hole.
what are you hatching? and how did it go for chickenwhisperer??
