Hello everyone,
I hatched my first (and only) chick last night around 8pm. I started with 9 eggs and this was the only fertilized egg in the batch. I got the egg from my parents, who raise hens and have one rooster. I’m pretty the rooster is a Welsummer because of the extra brown on the wing feathers, but I’m so curious who laid the egg. There are three possibilities. I will attach photos below. The first two photos are the chick, 1 day old. She has feathers on her legs. The next photo is the rooster. Then the hens. Is there anything that rules out any of these hens from being the mother? I’ll include a photo of the egg, too. I know it’s silly, but being my first time I’m just so curious :)
Thanks for any thoughts!

I think it is the rhode island red! Pick up a chick or two at your local feed store if possible to keep this little one company. You can also use a stuffed animal, but chicks do best with other chicks.
Congratulations, cute chick! 😊

Curious though where the feathering came in as none of the possible parent birds have feathering as far as I can see. Sure they could not be other possibilites?
feathered legs is a dominant trait.
Color wise the RIR makes the most sense of the photos you have posted.

My mom just went and picked up 6 little buddies for her! We will bring her tomorrow to be with the rest of the chicks.

Here’s a funny thing, the mostly white hen with some black (which I thought was a Colombian Wyandotte) has feathered legs. 🤔
