First time hatching.

I noticed right after mine hatched they had pink stuff hanging out of their vents, it gradually disappeared, guessing that was the placenta they used to draw from the yolk? I lost one overnight, it's pink stuff had hardened and turned dark. Can you suggest where I can learn what happened? Because I am getting another dozen eggs tomorrow

when they pip a outer hole they are not ready to hatch... SURPRISED? they are just catching a breath, they don't want help! they will just sit and rest they still have yolk to use up!!!!. Chicks that pip will hatch, it may take 24 hrs.

If you do try and "help" them out let me know... I will try and walk you through helping a bleeding and dying chick. No judgement or anything....maybe a little...
they are still chirping away, I'm not looking to intervene until there is no change after 24 hours. I'll be sure to update. Don't judge, it's my first ever hatch, I'm trying to learn.

I was kidding about the judging part, I would rather you not need help, but I would want you to ask for help if something went wrong.

If they have stuff still attached, don't clip it if it is still moist, if it is dry then okay. Sometimes I will crumble away the lower shell leave the cord attached till it drys up then clip. I don't like them to drag around the shell I am worried they may unravel.

24 hrs after a pip, if you want to try and help, go really slow removing shell. if you see blood stop. White inner lining is nothing to worry about if the inner lining was brown I would help. if they have a gooy belly button after dab with flour.

Remember They can be shipped cross country 3 days no food or water. so if they are in an egg if they have air (pip) they are fine.

Okay, so we now have a new problem. I have just realized that they are positioned in the wrong end, they have pipped the pointed part of the egg. Now what? :(

One has hatched and is doing great, the other 2 are still in the eggs and haven't made any progress :( I can see their beaks and see them breathing though, so I am not too worried just yet. I'm trying to be patient and see if they will do their thing lol

It has been a day and a half since they have pipped and 2 are out and fluffy, while one is still in the shell, but it has made a lot of progress, I'm sure it will be out soon. I can see it breathing and it is chirping, so I'm just being patient :)
