All 4 hatched and are doing fine!! I had to assist #12. It's head was on top of it's right wing, instead of tucked under it. That put me at 9 hatched. I honestly didn't think I would get that many. 4 other eggs are still in, including the twins, but I candled and didn't see any movement.w

The sinker probably died earlier and the air cell shrunk to almost non existent would be my guess. It floats based on the air cell. I came to the conclusion that it's the movement you look for in the floaters. no matter how they float it doesn't mean they are alive, but if they float and move, you've got a winner! lol I don't think I can remember having a flourescent coloring. I'd have to bow out of that guess. Thanks, and I know. I worry about WAY to much stuff!! Lol
I just water candled the remaining 4 and opened them up. They were all dead, with no internal pips. However, 3 floated in the water and 1 sank to the bottom. It also had some runny flourescent yellow like liquid in it. Everything I've read, says that if it sinks, then it never developed. But, this was a fully developed embryo. Do you happen to know what else would make them sink and what was the flourescent liquid? Bacteria maybe? The 3 that floated all had some ruptured yolk contents, but the color was very different from the sinker. Does this make sense? I hope I haven't confused you. Lol
The double's had good development, and appeared to be a very tight squeeze. It was hard to really tell one from the other. The yolk sac appeared to be ruptured. I didn't really pull the two embryo's apart that much, but a part of me wishes I had. I won't have the opportunity to see it again, as I don't plan on doing anymore doubles.Congrats!! I had some side pippers and they got out fine too.
Not sure about the float tests....except for movement (if they are moving, they often are not.. even if alive).
Thinks the floating has to do with air cell size more than anything else<shrugs>not sure tho.
Florescence could be bacteria...there's a thread around for evaluating eggtopsies.
What condition was the double in?

Quote: Yeah, some of mine had thick gunk that just dried hard in a spot or two, it broke up after a couple days.
I came here and asked if I should wash it and was told no by most folks, so I just waited.
