first time incubating

Well he survived the night but still isnt ready to come out. Temp dropped a little over night to about 96-97° but the egg was still shaking and wobbling in the morning. Guess its gonna be a long wait, I still see a bit of blood vessels on one side of the membrane but the other side looks like they're almost completely gone :)

Oh good. I thought about him last night, and hoped he was still hanging in there for you. Sounds like a fighter!

Keep those temps up, he needs that energy to hatch, not to stay warm!

I'm gonna try my best. I had to go out today for a couple hours today but I moved him a bit closer to the light so hopefully he warms up..but not too much. I pretty worried right now that I'm not at home to keep checking. I hope he's still OK when I get back.

Omg! You would not believe what I came home to :( I think one of my 4 ft long iguanas got into the incubator, flipped everything in there all around. The egg was in the corner burried under everything. I thought for sure he was dead and the egg felt so cold when I picked it up. But I held it in my hands to warm up a bit and moistened the membrane, right away he started moving again. I still have some hope though not much after the trauma he likely just suffered :(

OMG! 4 ft? I'm surprised it didn't eat it! I bet that little baby was chirping its head off! Miracles happen though. We will hold out hope!

Luckily iguanas are 100% vegan so she had no interest in eating it. Was likely attracted to the lamp in there for warmth if their heat lamp hadn't turned on yet. She also might be getting ready to lay some eggs herself and seems to be searching for a good spot (doesn't like the egg box). Would have been funny to come home to incubator full of iguanas eggs. Lol. I was considering incubating a few for a friend when she lays them, but after this experience I definitely don't want to deal with a 90 day incubation.

Pip is right centered in that weird grey and yellow spot I noticed. He definitely must have popped a blood vessel there or something trying to get out.

Omg! Omg! Omg! He just pipped!! wrong side of the egg though. Should I be concerned or will I have to help him?

Omg! Im so excited for you! With the pip being low, did anything come out with it, liquid? Is it closer to the end you opened or the other end? Is the hole big enough for him to breathe clearly? If no liquid and the pip is big enough, it would be best to just wait and see how it goes. Keep talking to him and try to keep him active.
