If you can elevate coop off ground, with run space under, that helps deter rats as they won't nest underneath coop. Use tight welded wire (like 1/2 in X 1/2 in) at all ventilation openings. Keep all food stored in closed metal containers, even to the point of picking up any food from their run at nighttime. Good luck!
