First time seeing a fox

The dog scent marking alone will not keep fox away. I have tried that a lot. Fox will even have scent marking war with the dog and go out of its way to lay a fresh mark.

Get a game camera and set it up where you saw fox. You will likely find the fox visits a lot more than you think and very likely keeps a schedule.

I don't free range mine, but I have an electric fence and use my German Shepherds as a deterrent for anything that may come in the yard and attempt to get in the run.

Electric netting is what I use. I have a fox that hangs around and the flock and fox have happily co-existed without the slightest issue. Even during winter. Either electric fence or a run set at least a foot in the ground and an electrified perimeter.

I agree. I get a fox on one of my game cameras most every night. This was last night.
