My year old serama hen is broody for the first time and her egg is "scheduled" to hatch today:)
This is my first time letting a broody hen hatch an egg..thought we were all done with chicks...never!
Any advice for letting the hen raise her own chick?
Thanks so much!

Hope your hatch goes well! Also as long as you keep your hen safe from predators she should do the rest.

It is still cool enough here that she (the mother hen) and the rest of the Serama, are still inside:)
I am just as excited as could be. Her little chickie is doing great so far. It is just amazing to see how flawless the mothers are and how clumbsy we as humans are in comparison.

I have spent years making sure my temps/humidity were right, expensive incubators, etc.
The hen never slept on the egg. She slept with the rest of the Serama and sat on it most of the day. Took 26 days to hatch, but it is seemingly perfect.
I'll get a picture up soon.
